Questions from homeowners like you!
A:
Dennis, the garage could be leaning for a number of reasons. If you don\'t have a 4\' footing running aroung the outside perimeter of the garage, and the garage is over 800 square feet the weight of the snow and roofing materials could be sinking the side. You could also have a water run off that is the culprit. Mid America Basements, and Todd\'s Mudjacking could give you a diagnosis. Mid America basements has a technique they use where that drill a footing down 4\' and use a jack to lift the garage back into place. Works great with houses, I don\'t see why it wouldn\'t work with your garage. I will forward on your info to the two companies with your permission. Thanks for the question,Andy LoveAsk the Expert

I have heard of this. The reason is for the longer a roof goes, the more the insurance company could be responsible. For example if your roof has run its expected life the odds of it leaking is increased, and can cause dama...ge to the sheeting and trusses underneath. Worse case is if the contents of the interior of the house gets damaged as well. I can tell you that a roof I looked at last month was only 10 years old, and the insurance company was insisting on a new roof. That situation was turned around after a full inspection. I know it can be frustrating, but sometimes they are wrong, and sometimes they are right. Call your agent if you think the roof is not that old, and want to question their decision. If it is time to replace, I recommend doing it before another winter.
Thanks for the questiion,
Andy Love
